Yes they missed it only because not only does it have it all but the taxes are 2 to 4 times higher thsn thr immediate surrounding area. Retirees fo not look foward to paying more than $2,400 annual taxes. Terravista homes on 1/2 acre typically pay $6,000 taxes plus $1,495 BellaVita fees and Local HOA plus golf member fees if elected. Go 10 blocks outside Terravista and taxes drop dramatically and fees are either mandatory or by choice. The community is great. The Villages, much cheaper costs for members over 55 and Top of The World their sister resorts rate higher based on lower more affordable costs. Terravista is a fine beautiful community but is not affordable living for the majority of over 55 middle class retirees. I live in the nearby outskirts of TerraVista in Citrus Hills and love it here save for the sad fact that we are too far from Tampa or Orlando Airports. We are not age restricted so kids can live here not just visit and can inherit our homes as well as sell it to people in their 30s and 40s. Our majority is over 55 but that was not thr criteria for that list.

The list is endless and limited only by your own imagination. Retirement is a time to play and, for many, a time to enjoy meaningful work. Seniors over 55 know how to have fun and enjoy the social aspect of being surrounded by friends who like to do the same things that they do.

Despite their differences, these two types of active adult communities may end up being very similar in demographics and even amenities. Most residents in age-targeted communities typically fall into the same age group as those in age-restricted communities. The focus for both types of communities is serving active older adults – those who believe age is just a number.
